Yes, I know it's a crowded weekend but we are planning a trip somewhere in N. GA for the Memorial Day holiday. We're considering a campground north of Atlanta so it is convenient for those from the Chattanooga area as well as the Atlanta area.
Not sure where we'll end up but we are considering several Corp of Engineer parks in/around Lake Allatoona - Sweetwater, McKaskey Creek, Payne and McKinney are all on the short list. There are also several GA State Parks under consideration but most of them are south/southeast of Atlanta so that's not as convenient for persons attending from Chattanooga.
We'll keep you posted. |

The plan evolved. We made a reservation at Hard Labor Creek State Park http://gastateparks.org/ east of Atlanta off I-20. We're arriving on Thursday afternoon 5/22 and staying for 4 nights.
This location will give us a chance to visit some small towns in the area or just take it easy at the campground. There a just over 60 campsites so I don't think we'll be too crowded. We're interested in going to Social Circle to eat at Blue Willow Inn and I'm sure there are plenty of other things to do and see.

| I just checked the web site for Georgia State Parks and there is 1 site remaining for Memorial Day weekend. Yesterday when we made our reservation there were 7 sites available. They're going fast! |
